Disclosures: How This Site Makes Money and What Our Prices Mean

Detail Price Index is a price site and a shop directory. We do not wash cars. This page holds our disclosures. It covers how we earn money, what our prices mean, and what we do not stand behind. Last updated July 18, 2026.

Affiliate disclosure: no paid links yet

Guide pages name specific products. CarPro UK 3.0, GTechniq Crystal Serum Light, Chemical Guys. None of those names is a paid link today. As of July 2026 this site carries zero affiliate links and has earned zero affiliate revenue. A product gets named because a detailer or an owner named it first.

That will change, so the rule is set now, before the money exists. We pick the product first, then check whether a program exists. A product that pays us nothing sits in the same list as one that pays. Your cost never goes up. You pay what any buyer pays at that store.

When a paid link ships it gets marked on the page carrying it, and our FTC disclosure runs there: As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Today that sentence describes a plan, not a payment.

Directory disclosure: we are a lead router, not the detailer

We do not detail cars. We do not fix paint or lay coatings. We list and refer local shops. Hire a shop you found here. Your deal is with them, not with us.

We do not vouch for a shop's work, insurance, or license. We never inspect a job. A listing is not an endorsement. Full liability terms sit on our terms page. Read them.

Paid listings may start later. So far no shop has paid us a cent. The directory is not live yet. Once paid listings begin, we will mark each one on the page — not just down here.

Prices here are estimates, not binding quotes

Each price has the label Estimated from regional averages plus a date. The numbers come from shop menus and national ranges. Nobody has seen your car, your paint, or your ZIP code. The gap between our range and your job can be wide. Treat it as a guess. Only the shop's own quote is binding. And only after they see the car. Our method and its limits are on how we source prices.

Editorial independence

We keep price research apart from the money. No advertiser, affiliate program, or listed shop sees a price table before it runs. None of them can move a range or cut a line. If that changes, this paragraph changes too.

We do not collect your personal data

As of July 2026 this site has no quote form, no booking form, no phone capture. We never ask for your name, number, or address. City pages offer one thing: a plain email link for a note when local listings go live. Write to it and we hold that address to send that one note. We sell it to nobody. The booking form will ship with its own privacy policy. This page is not one.
